Earth Day- Volunteers Wanted 5/18/08

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

EARTH DAY ~ MAY 18, 2007

As the Library is booked this the rest of this year, please plan to meet at my house until we can find a public location. Our next 2 Earth Day meetings are scheduled for:

Wed - November 28th & December 12, 5 - 7 p.m.

Due to misc issues including Lockport's growth cycle, we are behind schedule so please be sure to forward this to anyone who may be interested in volunteering for this Fun & Educational Event ~ including your husbands, wives & children! We'd like to form committees as soon as possible.

Below is a short list of ideas for volunteers:

1. Writing misc. letters
2. Locating & Listing the Earth Day on various internet sites
3. Telephone contacting & follow up calls for Exhibitors, Vendors & Donators
4. Contacting schools & scouts, etc- to entice teachers to create projects for the students
5. Bake Sale
6. Food
7. Locating free magazines & newspapers to advertise Earth Day
8. Fun Activities & Events for the day
7. Raffle Items
8. Donations


Last year we realized too late that requests for donations from many companies & organizations are budgeted in the previous year which only leaves us with 'December." Teachers also plan the Spring projects for students around this time of year. Also, many of the Exhibitors have to be contacted ahead of time. With Christmas around the corner most of us are extremely busy so it's critical that we round up some volunteers so the burden isn't placed on just a few of us.
